The BEST on my LIST!

I thought that I would share the few things that I got my Family for Christmas this year. My favorite item for each and where and for what price. You let me know if you could find it cheaper, Good Luck!

The HUSBAND: Okay I couldn't just share one because I was so excited about them both. I got him a copy of Heroes Proved by Oliver North. He's been interested in it for sometime and now he might be able to have time to read it. Purchased on Amazon for $17.05.

The second one is a Wally Bags 45 Extra Capacity Garment Bag w Two Pockets - Black. He travels some and wanted something better then the MLB bag for his suits. Purchased on eBags for $51.19.

The DAUGHTER: Now she was hard to buy for this year but I did finally decide on a Karaoke machine. It was a bit over the top but I liked that it had two mic plug-ins and it came with songs. Found it at Toys R' Us for $59.99.

#1 SON: All year long he has asked for Armor.  I really didn't want to give him armor! For his birthday he got an angry bird pillow and he plays the game ALL the time. When he's done cleaning his room or doing his homework that is his reward. So I thought he might like this Angry Bird Game. He seems to like to destroy things:) Bought it on Amazon for $13.49.

Last but not least #2 SON: Now he was hard to get a good answer out of when asked, "what do you want for Christmas?"  The promptings from his older siblings seems to echo around the table. The one thing that he has finally, consistently stuck with is a train. Fisher Price Steam N' Speed RC Thomas seemed like the best fit. Bought at Toys R' Us for $29.99.

So let me know if YOU can find a better price or a better gift since I did struggle with some of these. Or even let me know if these are some of the same under your Christmas Tree.

Rachel and the TreeSchoolers

Oh my, I think Santa will be delivering this full video set to my house. My blogger friend was so jealous that I got this to review because she loved Rachel from her previous work. And needless to day  I was just amazed. All three of my children, ages 7-3, stared! They loved the characters and since my oldest is scared of lighting and thunder it was perfect.  Well I figured that if my kids loved it so much then lets try it on others. So I took it with me to visit family.

My sister-in-law majored in sign language and I thought she would be a wonderful help in letting me know about the signing and age appropriate signing. And so we watched. My oldest (age7) watched for a couple minutes and then left but she HAD watched it several times before. I had 2 two year old  1 three year old, and 1 five year old. The two year old's did well. There was enough change in the show that they watched good for about 15 minutes. The other two watched the whole time. It was great they would get up and dance. They were concerned that Abacus Finch was scared. This program is wonderful. My sister-in-law had recognized Rachel from her Signing Time series. She said that, "everything was right on. The signs were easy and the songs that incorporated them were great." She did mention that she would have liked a little more review of the signs. One of my sisters said the itsy bitsy spider song was her favorite and would be purchasing the DVD for her two boys. This DVD set comes with the DVD and a song disc. For preschool fun it would be a great thing to get the kids involved in learning and moving their bodies at the same time. I do believe that the kids had a great time learning about Thunder and Lightening and getting to know the TreeSchoolers but here's a video for you to decide for yourself.
Rachel and the TreeSchoolers are here to stay! At least in my house!
 How about yours?

Snuggle Time

I was found in my bed this morning at 4 by the snuggle monster.  Yes, my two year old came up to snuggle with me. Most of the time if he gets up then he is ready to play but this morning I was lucky to get SNUGGLE TIME!! As any parent would say I miss the snuggles the most when their kids grow up and I am one that does! My little guy is so busy running around and playing that I miss out a lot on the snuggles I used to get so even though it was 4 a.m. I was still grateful for the time I was able to have with my son snuggling this morning! How about you? Was there someone today that helped brighten your smile or feel happier today? Leave a comment and let us know who your grateful for:)

The Alarm Clock

I am so grateful from my alarm clock this morning:) I was sleeping so soundly that I didn't even hear my husband leave.  He normally takes the kids to school and so my mornings aren't as crazy but today he needed to get into the office early. So I woke up with my wonderful alarm and was very grateful because I apparently pushed snooze a couple times already and was twenty minutes behind schedule. Behind schedule is always better then LATE!!! I got the kids to school on time and even some laundry started. So for this lovely morning I am so very grateful for that annoying little alarm clock that rips me from my peaceful slumber! What are you grateful for this morning?

Finding way's to be THANKFUL!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I know, I know it's not until Thursday but all this week I wanted to find things we are all thankful/grateful for.  So each day I will post something that I have found in my life that I need to be more thankful for and explain why. It might be the roof over our heads or my husbands job or even the availability and convenience of sting cheese. Whatever it might be I would love you to comment on what you feel you need to be thankful for.  I leave you with a thought from a wonderful writer William Shakespeare:

"Small cheer and great welcome
makes a merry feast."

Holiday Crazy " I Forgot"

If you are one of these I think you ARE truly crazy. You seem to enjoy the crowds and the crazy shopping. You enjoy everything until you realize that it's Christmas Eve and you still have gifts to buy and your suppose to be at the Cranford's party in ten minutes. To avoid this adrenaline rush I suggest that you plan your days to go shopping. Make sure you plan three or four days that you specifically go shopping. Doing this will help you know when your last day to shop is and how many gifts you still need. You could even specify who you are shopping for. Saturday, December 8th I am shopping for Mema, Lucy, and Ben. If you divide your list then you can focus a little more on the gifts you are looking for. But if your shopping and see something great for Aunt Sue then get it, you don't have to just buy for your list. The list is there just to help your mind focus a little more. And as I have said before write the people you need to buy for and the gifts you have bought for them. Here are a few you can choose from http://lovelylittlesnippets.blogspot.com/2011/11/organize-your-christmas-free-printables.htm  It is always easier to look at a list then get out all the presents and say this is for Joe, this is for Katie. Enjoy the shopping and the lights and sounds just schedule your shopping days and the holiday season will go a little smoother and you can make it to the Cranford's on TIME.

Holiday Crazy "Hit or Miss"

If you are in this category then your lucky. The Holidays never get you early and in the end you're pretty happy with how things worked out. BUT things can get a little crazy if you get to relaxed. Remembering who you have bought things for is a BIG deal. By keeping a simple list you can keep things straight. Make sure that you put that list in the box with the gifts or write on tape and place that on the gift. This way you know who you have and haven't bought for. Here are some great Christmas organizing pages. http://christmas.yourway.net/christmas-planning-ebook-printables/   Also get the decorations up early. Try to focus on getting them up and enjoying them rather then fighting to get them up on the 20th and then taking them down a week later.  You will be able to focus on Gift buying with this out of the way.

Holiday Crazy "Plan ALL year long"

PLAN, PLAN, PLAN....... and then PLAN some more!! Yes, this is you. You start planning pretty much right after the New Year( realistically right after Christmas).  You know that you want to shop the sales all year long, and you now what sells really work for you. We all know that the sales come with the major holidays but I really like to find a 'deal' site. I like using Pinching Your Pennies. They give you deals all the time, online and off. Sign up for their screaming penny and then you don't have to even search for the deals. They come right to your e-mail. Find the website that works best for you and enjoy knowing you will soon be done shopping. Well to help keep things a little more controlled through the whole year I suggest you make a list for those you are buying for. List their name, age, interestes, and list a clothing size larger(possibly two sizes) then they are right now.  Then go out and purchase a large tote with lid!! That is your christmas box. The paper will stay in the box and as you purchase items you will write what you bought and for whom and LEAVE THE PAPER IN THE BOX!!!!! If the items are to large write where you stored it. Then the list and the items stay in one place and then you can find them when you need them and all the pieces are in one place. The next thing to do is to realise you are ahead of the game and to slow down. The holidays are never fun if you don't slow down when you decorate or put the tree up. It seems that we are always hurry put it up, hurry and open it, hurry take it down. Slow down and enjoy it this year see how it goes. Then if you find something just didn't work try something else.   Here is an amazing site that has a lot of printables that you can print off. http://christmas.organizedhome.com/printable/christmas-countdown

Which one are YOU?

First of all with the holidays you have to know what kind of "HOLIDAIER" you are. I've made three categories.
  Plan all year long
It's a hit or miss
                                           Oh crap I forgot

The 'Plan all Year Long'-ers are those of you that buy for Christmas year round! I am one of these. How you I know, you ask?  Because I will shop the DEALS all year with Christmas in mind. Like Melissa and Doug (love these guys) had a great sale of 50% off and then I got another 20% off and free shipping. So I bought something that would have cost $150 for only $60 back in march. These people also have ALL their shopping done before Thanksgiving and the presents are wrapped by December 1st. The stress here is that your thinking Holidays ALL the time and by the time they actually get here your exhausted already.

The 'It's a Hit or Miss' people out there are those that think about buying year round but end up just sometimes getting the deal.  These people usually get MOST of their shopping done by the end of November and wrap things here and there. Cards are a later thought for these people. If they send them it's only a week before Christmas. The big stress here is not remembering what you have bought and who you have left. You usually end up settling for something and then the holidays are a let down.

The 'Oh Crap I forgot' ers are those that LOVE the last minute. Gifts usually aren't bought until Christmas Eve. Some presents are bought on Black Friday but really they don't know what they're looking for anyways so why deal with the crowds. Cards are usually never sent but thought that maybe they will send a Spring family letter. Most of the time if you are one of these guys you will forget that one person on your list and head out to the store at 8pm Christmas Eve. You know what the stress with last minute is but add the parties and there is no time to relax.

Decide which one you are and then check back for a
Holiday Relieve Plan just for you.

Essential Oils

There are a very few things in this life that are reliable.  Most things have a life time span and after that it doesn't matter how well you took care of it, IT's DONE!!! Well not Essential Oils. I was a freshman in high school when my mom started getting involved with essential oils. Back then I just thought it was mom being mom but now that I'm a MOM I understand. I have three essential oils in my house. They were the three I thought I would use the most and UNDERSTOOD the most about.

Lavender Oil:  I chose this because it was a very gentle oil and I could use it with my children.  It is used to calm emotion, disinfect the air, encourage a restful sleep, and soothes a tummy ache. My son had so much trouble staying asleep. From bad dreams to restless legs he seemed to always be up at night. Then I found this oil and I would blend olive oil and two drops of Lavender oil together and rub his feet before bed. He never woke up during the night when I would apply the oils. I was a BELIEVER after that. There are twenty ways to use Lavender Oil here on this link:  http://www.netherfield.co.nz/reasons-use-lavender.php  I really like the book TRUessence Benefits Book. It really breaks the oils down to a level I could really understand!!

Lemon Oil:  I chose this oil for my own benefits. Lemon is a stronger oil and needs to be diluted with olive oil before using with children (I usually do it for myself also).  I was hoping the lemon oil could help with my sluggish mood. It helps clear the mind, stimulate the brain, and is helpful with headaches, stress and depression. Now you ALL know why I got this for myself and I will be the first to admit it I NEEDED HELP.  When my gets all stressed out and worried about things I drop one drop of Lemon oil on the crown of her head and then defused it with olive oil for a couple days. It bring her back to her happy self:) This site has 34 ways to use Lemon Oil: http://younglivingoillady.com/home/34-wayslemon-oil/  Lemon is a stronger oil so make sure you read about how to use it properly before you use it!!

Peppermint Oil: This oil has to be my favorite!! It is referred to as the 'Universal Oil' because it can do some many things. I use it mostly with my breathing. Whenever I get a stuffy nose or a cough I apply diluted peppermint on my nose and chest, I sleep like a baby. I put a dab of it on my temples to relieve a headache. I apply two drops of peppermint oil and two drops of Lavender oil diluted with olive oil on my shoulders when I feel them tighten up from a stressful day. I LOVE Peppermint Oil!! This site has almost thirty uses for peppermint oil:    http://younglivingoillady.com/home/peppermint-essential-oil-uses/  Peppermint can be used with children BUT make sure you defuse it with olive oil before applying ANYWHERE around the face!!!!!
Essential Oils can do wonderful things from stopping your head aches to allowing restful sleep to putting a smile back on a face. They have changed our family life. Please read about how to use Essential Oils here and get a good understanding of them before using them. http://www.youngliving.com/en_US/wellness/about-essential-oils/using-essential-oils.html They are kinda spendy depending on what brand you buy. I like Young Living and NOW. I pay 15$ to 20$ for a bottle that I bought three years ago and I'm not even half way through it! Try them and see if you become a BELIEVER!!!
