Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil Review

I love being able to get a product and review it for you.  Sometimes the product is a let down but NOT this one.  Tropical Traditions is a wonderful company that produces a great Virgin Coconut Oil. I have never even thought that Coconut oil was something that I would WANT to purchase or even know what to do with it if I did!! When presented with this opportunity I went to good old Pinterest to find some wonderful things.

I wanted to give you guys a few ways that you could use this oil at home and feel that you were doing good with it.  The first thing I have found is a hand scrub.  My mother loves these and I will be sending her this one for Mother's Day!  So my Pinterest friend and I decided we were going to try it out.  It has only four ingredients and my kids helped us make it.

I uses Lemon oil instead of orange but I think either one would be wonderful smelling. Just be careful with the Lemon Oil because it can be a bit intense.  So I used the recipe here and then I just started adding as I pleased!  I started with 1/2 cup of Sea Salt, 1/2 cup of Raw Sugar, 1/4 cup of Virgin Coconut oil, and about thirty drops of Lemon Oil.
And then we mixed!! And we added and we mixed and added. It was really kind of fun to see what consistency we liked. By the end our hands were sooooooooooo soft!

Then I thought we needed something we could consume. So I searched and found FUDGE!! Sugar is always good right? Well I love this recipe because it doesn't ask for refined sugar.
Common Sense Homesteading has found a wonderful recipe and guess where it came from....Tropical Traditions
My daughter is sensitive to sugar and so this makes a great treat for her. I would follow the recipe (I didn't exactly go all organic) except for when it comes to adding the dried fruit I would add more. I really like the tang of the cranberry and the truffle texture of the fudge!

NO COOKING required!! Go check them out and get your family enjoying a little more summer year round. I also found a few health pages that if you are interested give you a little more insight on Coconut Oil and it's great health benefits.  http://coconutoilbenefits4u.com/coconut-oil-for-cellulite/

Disclaimer: Tropical Traditions provided me with a free sample of this product to review, and I was under no obligation to review it if I chose. Nor was I under any obligation to write a positive review.   I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  1. I wonder if you could substitute jojoba oil or sweet almond oil for the coconut oil? I have both of those as carrier oils for my aromatherapy. You could also substitute a nomber of other essential oils for the orange, or as you used, lemon. The lemon oil is a great re-energizer when you just need a little bit of a pick-me-up. Orange does that as well, and if you are using the lemon, you could add a little rosemary oil. This recipe you have sounds good in that while you are making it, you're already helping your hands. It would be good for roughened elbows, knees, and feet/heels as well. The scent dhould stay with you for a while after using, as those essential oils are being absorbed while you are scrubbing away the dry skin. 8-)
